What is the Hanazono Lantern Festival?

First held in Niseko last year and deeply moving many visitors, the Hanazono Lantern Festival returns once again to Niseko Hanazono Resort. This special winter event celebrates the Lunar New Year by inviting you to write your wishes on lanterns and release them into the night sky—hoping for health, happiness, and good fortune in the year ahead.
It’s a warm, welcoming event for everyone, whether you’re visiting with family, friends, or that special someone.

Make Your Own Lantern

On the day of the event, you’ll have colored pens to decorate your lantern however you like—draw, write wishes, or simply get creative and make it your own. Thinking about what to write is all part of the fun.

All lanterns use LED lights, so the experience is safe for children as well. Lanterns are released while attached to strings and collected afterward, making the event environmentally friendly. Best of all, you can take your lantern home as a keepsake.
